The past week has been lively at the Nikola Tesla Branch School in Moravice, where the students and the English teacher enjoyed celebrating the ever-popular Halloween. We read, created, expressed ourselves artistically, and, most importantly, had a lot of fun. The first and the second graders were introduced to the story in the verses Little Spider's Web, after which they painted canvases and made spiders in the form of a print of their own palms. Of course, spiders also got many eyes, but also indispensable glitter.
While the third graders made cats out of strips of collage paper, the fourth graders made bats out of toilet paper rolls using collages, googly eyes, and tempera.
Somewhat more demanding tasks were set with students of upper grades attending additional English classes. They did some creative writing. The fifth-grade student Dora Šetafančić tried to figure out what a magic book was doing in the fridge. At the same time, a sixth grader Dora Mance wrote a Halloween story with the given words and enriched it with her own. The seventh graders Tamara Kljajić, Petra Rebić, and Sara Karabatković wrote stories with given prompts full of tension and anticipation. In contrast, the eighth graders Darin Goršić, Dina Marković, and Doris Klaić wrote recipes for some unusual and yet so typical Halloween delicacies.
The seventh-grade student Darijan Potkonjak carved the school pumpkin that adorned the entrance to the school. His classmates joined him in that creativity, so the student Karlo Labazan carved Pepi, his Halloween friend. In contrast, the student Petra Rebić made a cute monster out of natural materials named Noddy (or in Croatian, Zvonko).
All students were given specially made Halloween certificates and received occasional Halloween sweets. Students of lower grades were treated by the teacher and our hard-working cook Irena Nikolić with muffins that were made especially for them on the occasion of celebrating Halloween.
A spooky cheer for Halloween from all of us!

On 7 October we visited one of Crotian national parks which is also the oldest one. We had a lot of fun on the way there...as well as on the way home...At first the weather was cloudy but it wasn't raining. However, our luck didn't last...During the second half of our sightseeing the rain started...and we hurried to the bus...Some of us got wet more than others.
Despite the weather we had the best time ever!
P.S. It was also our teacher's birthday and our present to her was a folk song wishing her to live until she's 105 and then all over again!
